Our Meadow and Wildflower Projects
Careful cutting is what its all about. Our John Deere Tractor allows us to do this exactly. It's all about access and making pathways for biodiversity. This sounds counter intuitive, but it works. We get loads of wonderful feedback by making the inner parts of our meadows accessible to young and old. It leads to better engagement from the general public, and especially children to get close to nature, instead of looking from the outside in.
We manage 34 acres of land for pollinators and wildlife. The tractor allows us to manage grasslands to increase the food for Bees, Butterflies and other pollinating insects. The tractor importantly collects the grass cuttings, which reduces the fertility in the soil, thus increasing the numbers of wildflowers (food). Check out the video produced by the National Biodiversity Data Centre in which we feature on how to create and manage a meadow.
Our tractor costs include:
- Road Tax
We suggest chipping in €20 here towards the cost of keeping our tractor operational. You also have the option of supporting us by giving €5 per month as a subscription. If neither of these options suit you, please go to our #BeeAHero campaign page where you can give from as little as €3.
Email us at email@example.com and we'd be happy to help and partner up with you!
